Back To Kyiv!
It's been a good two months, but it's been a long two months. Today we fly back to Ukraine.
Over the past couple of months, I preached in five congregations and shared about our new work with UBI nine times. We're so thankful for the wonderful supporters we have behind us, and we enjoyed the time we got to spend with you. Thank you for the rides, the cars, the beds—the house!—for your words of affirmation and encouragement. Thank you for the patience you had with our son when we had had run out of it ourselves.
I've been hard at work getting my teaching notes ready for my Hebrews class, which begins in two weeks. It was nearly impossible to find consistent and uninterrupted time to study while traveling, so I began waking up at 5:00 a.m. every morning to work for two or three solid hours before our busy days got started. That was a huge help and it allowed me to finally finish my first draft of notes just two days ago. Over the next couple weeks I'll be getting assignments, tests, and my syllabus put together, while also beginning work on my next course.
It's been a good two months, but it's been a long two months. North Carolina, California, Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, and back to North Carolina. We are grateful for the time we've had, but at some point a few weeks ago, we hit a wall. Justus needs his routine. We need our routine. It's time to get back to Kyiv.
We leave tonight at 6:30 and fly 8 1/2 hours to Munich. There we sit three hours, then fly to Ukraine. If all goes according to plan, we'll be arriving to Kyiv at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday (7:10 a.m. CST).
We love and appreciate you all very much. Thank you for the love and appreciation you have shown to us these last two months.
Until next time,
Brandon and Katie
P.S. For the second year in a row, I participated in what's called a 365 Photo Project. I took a photo every single day and shared it to a group online. If you'd like to peruse our last couple of years, check out 2018 here and 2019 here. Basically, it's just a chance to be amazed at how fast Justus is growing up.
I was invited to speak at a church in Santa Cruz and we had a few hours to spend at the beach. It was Justus’ first time to see the ocean and he was impressed!
"Justus, don’t kick the cat!”
“I’m not kicking him. I’m petting him with my ankle.”
